Casual & Luxe Wedding atop a mountain in Colorado
My vision for this Breckenridge Styled Wedding was inspired by the design of the home that sits atop a mountain with panoramic views of all of Breckenridge Ski Resort. Afterall, small, intimate weddings in homes have become popular since 2020 forcing us all to think outside of the norm for weddings. Once I stepped foot into this luxury mountain home, I could envision the rest of what a wedding day could look like here, so I collaborated with the owner and designer and other local artisans to make it come alive.
Most people think of Breckenridge as a winter destination, but let me let you in on a little secret. The summers are where it’s at. That’s why over 2000 couples come from all over to get married here for our evergreen, snow-capped mountains and high alpine temperatures to beat the heat. You’re guaranteed not to *sweat, and that makes a lot of Southerns like me excited to have their wedding in the mountains. (*disclaimer: OK, you may sweat a little on your wedding day. It happens to the best of us.)
All the fine touches were taken care of by an incredible team of vendors and planners. I got to flex my creative muscles in the off season by creating the design board and visiting each person who wanted to collaborate on this styled shoot. I was honored to collaborate with Little White Dress Bridal in Denver, Colorado, Logan Ellis with Divine Beauty Artists, and Nikole owner of DonLo Mercantile for this editorial shoot. They’ve each written some details meant for brides planning their wedding in this article.

Bride in SAVIN London Gown
The Savin London “Vivia” gown with matching veil were selected to showcase a spring-time or summer Colorado mountain meadow look and style within the spectacular mountain setting of Arendelle Castle. The Savin London “Vivia” gown is a soft, romantic A-line style with a plunge neckline and sheer back and is from the designer’s “Springtime” 2020 collection. This special gown and matching veil immediately capture your attention with dozens of multi-colored beaded floral appliques on a light ivory background. -Cate Carpenter, Little White Dress Bridal

Hair accessories for your Colorado Wedding
Don’t forget the hairpiece when completing your look. I’m partial to a long veil. And since the hair is such an important part of the bride’s style and beauty, it is an important element to tie it all together. It can totally elevate your wedding day attire. Whether you go with a hair piece or veil, just do it!
The Maria Elena hair ornament used in this photo shoot features crystalized fabric leaves and florals with delicate beading and pearls. The cut and clarity of the crystals is exceptional and captures the light from every angle. Maria Elena Headpieces are hand-made in Miami, Florida. Maria Elena started her business 30 years ago by making a headpiece for her own daughter’s wedding, and each piece is heirloom quality and uses only the finest of materials and craftsmanship. – Cate Carpenter, Little White Dress

Hairstyle for a Colorado bride in a flowy, and floral dress
This dress was so perfect for the venue that it deserved two hairstyles. For the ceremony look we chose to go with the pulled back look with light face framing pieces. For the reception and dancing, a down all down and soft wave was the exact casual look we were trying to achieve.
The [Savin London] gown I found to be a little more playful. Pulling the hair out of the face to see the gorgeous soft glam makeup but still having the hair mostly down in the back to emphasize the back of the dress made the look complete. -Logan Ellis, Divine Beauty Artists
